More energy and flexibility from lithium-polymer batteries
|
|
Varta Microbattery has increased the capacities of its PoLiFlex® range of lithium-polymer batteries and launched new sizes to satisfy next-generation portable and handheld devices. |
Lithium-polymer technology
enables compact, lightweight
batteries displaying high
energy density. The PoLiFlex
range now includes batteries
from 360mAh measuring 34mm
x 41mm x 2.2mm and weighing 8.0g,
up to 1320mAh devices measuring 35mm
x 66mm x 6.2mm and weighing 24.0g.
Varta has also implemented electronic safety
modules for short-circuit protection and to
prevent damage to the battery in the event
of charger failure.
In addition, PoLiFlex batteries can sustain
pulse loads up to five-times the nominal
battery capacity. A further benefit is that
no heavy metals or liquid electrolytes are
included, resulting in a low
environmental impact
from manufacture
through to disposal
at end of life.
Varta’s partnership
with Future delivers a
complete design-in service,
enabling engineers to take
advantage of the high capacity and
small dimensions of PoLiFlex batteries.
Design support includes development of
custom packs comprising PoLiFlex batteries, to
meet the specific demands of each host
product design.
