I2C-bus ADC/DAC meets Fast-mode Plus performance
|
|
NXP Semiconductors has introduced the PCA9691, a combined ADC and DAC with I2C interface capable of operation at 1MHz for Fast-mode Plus (FM+) solutions. |
By operating from a
single power supply
of 2.5V to 5.5V, the
PCA9691 also eases
system design.
The PCA9691 has four
analogue inputs. These can
be configured as single-ended
or differential inputs to perform
simple monitoring of measuring
bridges as well as grounded or floating
signals. An on-chip track-and-hold
function also allows use as an 8-bit ADC with
four multiplexed inputs. In addition, the peak
sampling capability above 100ksample/s
allows the device to be used for distribution
of audio signals.
A single analogue output is
also provided, allowing
operation as a one-channel
8-bit DAC to convert digital
values transmitted by a
host microcontroller.
Address, control
and data are
transferred serially
via the two-line
bi-directional I2C-interface.
Three
address pins are
provided, allowing eight
devices to be connected to
the I2C-bus without additional
hardware.
