Miniature current monitor delivers versatile performance
|
|
Zetex has introduced a current monitor IC in the miniature 5-pin SOT23 package, which provides accurate current measurement under all load conditions including when the load is short-circuited. |
The ZXCT1050 achieves this flexibility due to its
wide common-mode input voltage range; from
ground to within 2V of the supply voltage. This
wide sense-input range also allows the ZXCT1050
to operate on the high or low side of the load.
Other features include current-output
topology and low offset voltage, creating a
versatile device that can be optimised for low
in-line voltage drop. The low offset voltage
enables a typical accuracy of
1% for sense voltages of only
30mV, delivering improved
performance where small
sense resistors are used at
higher currents.
Programmable voltage gain
using two external resistors
allows designers to adjust the
sense resistor value for
optimum accuracy and power
dissipation. To further aid lowpower
operation, the
quiescent current of 50µA is
more than ten-times lower
than that of alternative devices
in larger packages.
