TO-style packages boost power resistor ratings

BI Technologies has introduced non-inductive planar thick- and thin-film power resistors housed in convenient TO-style packages for enhanced thermal performance in applications up to 140W. |
The arrival of the MHP series reflects moves
to reduce package parasitics in power
electronic components to achieve higher
power ratings and minimise thermal
management overheads. The construction
of the resistive element, combined with the
integral metal flange of the
TO-style packages, allows
engineers to implement
high-wattage circuits that
require superior thermal
management during
operation. The metal flange
allows direct mounting to a
heatsink for efficient cooling,
avoiding thermal saturation
of the PCB by dissipating heat
above the circuit board.
BI Technologies’ MHP series power resistors
are available in power ratings from 20W to
140W in resistance values from 0.01Ω to
51kΩ, and include industry-standard powerpackage
options from TO-126 to TO-247.
