15W regulator accepts universal mains voltages
|
|
The ON Semiconductor NCP1028 is a rugged and low-cost switched-mode regulator, capable of 15W output and operation from universal mains voltages. |
Current-mode control and adjustable ramp
compensation ensure efficient and stable
operation in continuous- or
discontinuous-conduction modes.
The NCP1028 uses integrated
high-voltage technology to save
power-supply footprint by including
a 700V power MOSFET and start-up
current source, connected directly to
the bulk capacitor. Programmable
brown-out circuitry is also provided, to
prevent runaway when operating from
low input voltages. The low onresistance
of the integrated MOSFET
allows use in standby or auxiliary offline
power supplies, as well as applications
requiring higher output-power levels.
Fixed-frequency operation at 65kHz in the
NCP1028P065G or 100kHz in the NCP1028P100G
allows small external components. Internal
frequency jittering minimises the device’s EMI
signature.
Built-in protection includes over-power
protection for high-line conditions, as well as
overload and short-circuit protection allowing
low-duty-cycle burst operation with safe autorecovery.
