Minimalist solution for input voltages up to 24V

The Exar SP6125 is a PWM-controlled step-down voltage-mode regulator featuring internal Type-II compensation to save component-count when using a tantalum or electrolytic output capacitor. |
Type III compensation for ceramic output
capacitors is also easily implemented with
minimal external compensation components.
Further reduction of external components is
achieved through provision of input-voltage
feed-forward and an on-chip 0.6V reference,
allowing the PWM control signal to be
generated internally. The output voltage is
programmable down to 0.6V via an external pin.
By integrating a PMOS driver, the SP6125 is
capable of operating at 100% duty cycle to
minimise power consumption in low dropout
conditions.
Designed for single-supply operation from 4.5V
to 29V, the SP6125 is suitable for use in 5V, 12V
and 24V applications. In addition to the SP6125’s
valuable savings in external components, the
space-saving 6-pin TSOT package makes this the
smallest controller available capable of operating
from 24V DC supplies.
