Surface-mount EMI filter performs beyond its footprint

The Murata BNX022 ceramic filter for EMI suppression in DC power-supply lines delivers the performance normally expected of filters in larger, through-hole packages, but with the small-footprint and easy-assembly advantages of surface-mount technology.

The leadless devices measure 12mm x 9mm x 3mm, are rated to 50V and 10A, and maintain insertion loss greater than 35dB throughout the entire frequency range from 1.0MHz to 1.0GHz.

Murata has achieved the BNX022’s smaller footprint and lower profile by enhancing capacitor construction, terminal fabrication and packaging technology compared to conventional filters in through-hole packages.
