POL power for advanced memories and ICs
|
|
Freescale Semiconductor has introduced two pairs of Point-Of-Load (POL) converters optimised for use with memory subsystems and microprocessors. |
Each of the four devices features on-chip
N-channel MOSFETs and integrated protection
and output-monitoring features to minimise
external components.
In memory applications, the MC34712 and
MC34716 are able to supply the data-bus
termination voltage and chipset reference
voltage for DDR1/2/3 or other memory arrays.
The MC34716 also has a 5.0A-rated output
capable of providing the main supply voltage
(VDDQ) to the memory-chipset.
The MC34713 and MC34717 are single- and
dual-channel POL supplies with 5.0A
continuous output per channel. These devices
are used to convert an input voltage in the
range 3.0V to 6.0V to an output in the range
0.7V to 3.6V to satisfy the core and I/O voltage
requirements of processors and other advanced
ICs. Voltage sequencing, tight output
regulation, and the ability to track an external
reference voltage when in a variety of
configurations enable versatile performance in
many single-supply applications.
