LED with lens in PLCC-4 package streamlines design

The HSMx-A46x PLCC-4 LED from Avago integrates a lens into a PLCC-4 package size, streamlining designs for signs and signals. The Power PLCC-4 device is able to provide focused beams within narrow viewing angles of 50°° for focused radiation.

The PLCC-4 package offers improved heat dissipation and higher light output compared to the conventional PLCC-2 SMT package. The package design, coupled with careful selection of component materials, allows the PLCC-4 LED to perform with higher reliability and over a larger temperature range from -40°C to 100°C. This is crucial to LED lighting in harsh environments such as automotive and Electronics Signs and Signals (ESS). The Power PLCC-4 SMT LED with lens package is also designed to be compatible with both Infrared Reflow (IR) and Through-The-Wave (TWW) soldering.
