Complete hardware and software VoIP solution
Freescale Semiconductor and design
partner Arcturus Networks are offering
a complete hardware and software
solution for VoIP.
The M53281KIT can
function either as a
reference platform
upon which to
base a proprietary
design, or as a
ready-to-use VoIP
module to be
integrated directly
into an application,
minimising time-to-market. A third option exists
for customers who wish to purchase only the host
processor with accompanying VoIP software.
The solution targets low-end VoIP systems and
the µCLinux™ OS, SIP stack and VoCoders are all
included with no NRE or licensing cost, offering
reduced development cost/time compared to
existing VoIP solutions.
Based on the ColdFire® MCF532x family, the
kit includes all required system memory and
terminations to enable most applications without
the need for added external circuitry. These
include audio, Ethernet, CAN, serial, I/O and USB
host communication interfaces, as well as standard
peripheral device connectivity using
I2C or QSPI. Furthermore the MCF532x
on-chip LCD controller enables
applications requiring VoIP with a GUI
capability such as video intercom or
security systems.
Daughtercards are also available for
LCD-to-VGA scan conversion.
The development system includes an
open-source µClinux BSP complete
with source code, GNU tools, kernel
and a broad collection of applications
and drivers. A certified SIP telephony stack and
audio subsystem is included with API, along with a
device management middleware system.
