600V gate drivers gain extra protection

International Rectifier has introduced a family of 600V, single-channel gate drivers that provide extensive protection features and utilise the latest High Voltage IC (HVIC) technology.

In addition to Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO), over-current detection at the power switch and a Fault pin to indicate status, the devices also benefit from the superior electrical over-stress protection and higher field reliability of IR’s G5 HVIC process. Other advantages include package enhancements for reduced sensitivity to moisture.

The IRS212x series comprises driver ICs capable of producing a gate voltage up to 20V, with typical turn-on current of 290mA and turn-off current of 600mA. The inputs are compatible with logic signals of 3.3V, 5V and 15V. IRS212x variants also provide a choice of true- or inverted-logic inputs.

The output-driver buffer stage design is optimised for minimum cross-conduction, and provides a floating channel to drive a highside or low-side N-channel power MOSFET or IGBT. The devices are suitable for three-phase inverter, H-bridge or other circuit topologies.
