Dual-input ISM-band receiver delivers feature-rich performance



 


The Melexis MLX71121 is an automotive-qualified RF receiver that features two inputs to support low-cost antenna-diversity solutions for enhanced data integrity.

The MLX71121 also supports dual-band operation, allowing switching between two applications operating in different frequency bands such as 433MHz or 868MHz. Input frequency ranges of 300-470MHz and 610-930MHz allow manufacturers serving global markets to simplify production logistics and reduce costs. Only a change of crystal is required to address available bands across Europe, North America and Asia.

Internal FSK and ASK demodulators, as well as an on-chip Intermediate Frequency (IF) filter of 230kHz bandwidth, save cost and footprint. Further integrated features include output-noise cancellation, as well as a start-up sequencer for faster start-up and lower power consumption. By also implementing Automatic Frequency Control (AFC), the MLX71121 can tolerate frequency uncertainties present in the input signal.

By using a 32-lead QFN package with a 5mm x 5mm footprint and eliminating bulky external filter and discriminator components, the MLX71121 satisfies systems requiring the smallest feature size and lowest cost.
