USB goes from Mini to Micro, for even smaller handhelds

Micro-USB connectors from Tyco Electronics have the smallest footprint of all USB interconnects and exceed the USB Implementers Forum specification for durability.

Using these connectors, designers can adopt the latest USB standard for low-profile design. Micro- USB is smaller than the established Mini-USB format, and supports USB On-The-Go enabling flexible communication between portable devices.

Tyco Electronic’s Micro-USB range includes Type A and Type AB board-mounted receptacles with a mounted height as low as 2.4mm. Cable assemblies supporting USB On-The-Go are also available. Special design features ensure high durability, protect against wire pinching, and provide a latch mechanism to prevent accidental withdrawal of the plug.
