ESD protection preserves high-speed digital performance
The Vishay VBUS051BD-HD1 ESD-protection
diode for digital-signal
applications combines high protection
capabilities with a low capacitance
to avoid slowing signal edges. The
conventional alternative, a discrete
Zener diode, is unable to provide this
combination.
The device provides protection for a single
data line, and is suitable for use with highspeed
digital interfaces such as USB 2.0 or
HDMI. The level of ESD protection provided
meets IEC 61000-4-2, achieving ±15kV contact
discharge. Clamping behaviour is bidirectional
but asymmetrical, which offers optimal
protection for applications running up to 5V.
The ultra-compact LLP1006-2L package
saves on board space, while the sub-1µA
leakage current minimises impact on system
power budget.
