Low-loss switches preserve signal integrity and battery life
Fairchild Semiconductor has further
extended its range of low-loss
analogue switches by introducing the
FSA2268 for audio-signal management
duties in power-sensitive devices.
The FSA2268 features two Single-Pole
Double-Throw (SPDT) switches, each
designed for break-before-make operation
and achieving 0.4Ω typical on-resistance at
3.0V supply voltage to minimise losses. The
wide operating-voltage range from 1.65V to
4.3V is a further attractive feature for battery-powered
applications.
The Select input is TTL-level compatible
for direct connection to the host processor
or other control logic. A particular benefit is
the FSA2268’s low quiescent current even
when the control voltage is lower than the
supply voltage, using Fairchild’s low-Icct
technology. This serves mobile handset
applications by minimising battery drain
when directly connected to the generalpurpose
I/Os of the baseband processor.
Also available is the FSA2268T, which
includes termination resistors to increase
noise immunity during overshoot excursions.
This enables a compact solution for audiosystem
functions such as off-isolation
coupling and pop minimisation.
