Multi-input HDMI receiver accelerates HD-TV design
The TDA19978 HDMI receiver from NXP
Semiconductors has four independent
inputs to eliminate the need for an
external HDMI switch, which saves
system costs and accelerates
product-design cycles.
Each input also has its own integrated
Extended Display Identification Data (EDID)
memory, which eliminates the need for
external EDID memory and associated
switches.
In addition, this HDMI-1.3 compliant
receiver has 12-bit colour depth and largegamut
colour-space support for improved
video performance. It also delivers an
enhanced audio experience due to a highbit-
rate audio path and Direct Stream
Transport (DST), enabling transport of audio
streams such as DTS-HD™ or Dolby TrueHD™.
The TDA19978 supports all high-definition
formats including 60Hz 1080p HDTV and
1600 x 1200 UXGA PC display resolutions.
In applications that use the Consumer
Electronics Control (CEC) protocol that forms
an optional part of the HDMI specification,
the TDA19978 partners closely with the NXP
TDA9950 CEC controller to enhance the
functionality and interoperability of devices
connected in a HDMI system.
