Universal audio processor supports multiple sources and effects
For enhanced audio control in
television and video equipment,
the NXP Semiconductors TDA9859
universal hi-fi audio processor
accepts signals from up to three
stereo sources and provides control
facilities for both the main and
SCART channels.
The TDA9859 is built around a crossbar
switch enabling switching of six audiofrequency
inputs, thereby supporting
three stereo sources or six mono sources.
Each of the input signals can be switched
to each of the outputs, providing the
maximum adaptability and supporting
versatile controls. Since the main channel is
looped around the outside of the TDA9859,
designers can route signals to the line
output or insert a surround-sound processor.
Integrated audio processing capabilities
include several audio effects such as stereo
with spatial effect and forced mono with
pseudo stereo. The volume of left and
right channels can also be controlled
simultaneously or independently, and
controls for treble and bass are included.
