Analogue switches boost efficiency, enhance safety

The Vishay Siliconix DG469 and DG470 Single-Pole Double-Throw (SPDT) analogue switches achieve 3.6Ω onresistance and 0.4Ω resistance flatness to minimise power dissipation and signal distortion.

The low on-resistance combines with high continuous-current carrying capability of 120mA, enabling efficient and reliable performance in relay-replacement and power-routing applications. Switching speeds are typically 129ns to turn on and 80ns to turn off, allowing operation at frequencies greater than 7MHz.

Both devices will operate from single-ended or dual supplies up to 44V, and have a wide analogue signal range of ±15V.

Introduced as an enhancement to previousgeneration analogue switches, the new devices eliminate the requirement for a separate logic supply voltage, thereby simplifying system powersupply design.

In addition, the DG470 has an Enable pin for enhanced controllability and safety. Both of the DG470’s inputs and outputs can be disconnected, which allows designers to ensure that signals and power are not connected until the Enable pin is activated. The pin can also be used as a mute function for audio switching, or as a quickdisconnect function in the event of a fault condition.
