Enhanced efficiency for low-voltage regulators
The NCP3120/3 dual step-down
converter ICs from On Semiconductor
deliver enhanced efficiency in lowvoltage,
high-current applications.
With two 2.0A regulators in the NCP3120, and two
3.0A regulators in the NCP3123, both devices are
capable of producing voltages as low as 0.8V. An
on-chip 0.8V reference is provided, accurate to
±1.5%, for uniform accuracy across a range of
operating conditions. The switching frequency is
adjustable from 200kHz to 750kHz using an
external resistor, allowing the use of a small output
capacitor and inductor to save board area. In
addition, 180° out-of-phase operation minimises
the requirement for input capacitance.
Built-in features include voltage tracking,
sequencing, and comprehensive protection
including cycle-by-cycle current limit and Under-
Voltage Lockout (UVLO). In each device the two
output channels can be turned off independently,
entering a low-power state to support flexible
power management. Both devices are delivered in
a small-outline 32-pin QFN package.
