Enabling VESA for enhanced-display applications

The emerging VESA DisplayPort interconnect combines digital audio and video over the same cable and enables plug and play connection. A range of cable assemblies and receptacles are now available from Tyco Electronics supporting VESA.

Tyco Electronics offers cables for both 6.48Gbit/s and 10.8Gbit/s standards, allowing users to view high-definition media content on computers and flat panels.

Cable assemblies are available in standard two-metre lengths, orderable as base part number 2013683. In addition, 10- and 15-metre lengths are available, allowing transmission of 1080p high-definition multimedia up to the maximum distance specified in the VESA standard. Other custom lengths are available on request. Directdrive cable assemblies are available for direct interconnect of DisplayPort-equipped computer monitors. The cables support the optional DisplayPort contentprotection capabilities, which allow protected digital content to be viewed on high-quality, high-definition screens.

The DisplayPort receptacles are surfacemount components, orderable as base part number 2013655.
