Controller for brighter, faster LED signage

The AS1112 16-channel LED driver IC from austriamicrosystems enhances large LED display panels by supporting faster response for moving images, dynamic correction for light-output variations, and series-connection of more LEDs for higher brightness.

With a high data-refresh frequency of 30MHz, the AS1112 enables large displays to present fast-moving video, such as stadium events. With 12 bits-per-channel colour depth, the AS1112 supports up to 68 billion colours in RGB display applications.

Dot correction enables dynamic adjustment of LED drive current in 64 steps, allowing accurate compensation of brightness variations between individual LEDs and modules.

Output ports are able to withstand up to 15V, allowing connection of multiple LEDs in series.

In the event of failure of an individual LED, the device communicates the location of the faulty device via its built-in serial interface.
