Motion-control MCU responds at touch of a virtual button
The Zilog Z8 Encore! XP® F1680 MCU
family combines the Zilog EZ8™ CPU
core with peripherals for touch-screen
and motor-control applications.
In addition to its peripheral set, the F1680 series
incorporates best-in-class stepper-motor control
techniques for functions including micro-stepping.
This delivers performance advantages in addition
to higher integration and board-space savings in
products requiring both touch-screen and stepmotor
functionality. The performance of the EZ8
CPU core also benefits motor-control applications,
with 10MIPS capability allowing rapid execution of
motor-control algorithms.
The touch-sensor peripherals allow designers to
easily implement resistive or capacitive sensing,
touch-screen functionality, backlight controls and
temperature compensation.
Complementing its motor-control capabilities,
the F1680 series also implements an on-chip
temperature sensor that enables designers to
measure the die temperature to within ±7°C over
the full operating range from -40°C to 105°C.
Within the range 20°C to 30°C, the reading is
accurate to ±1.5°C.
