Ultra-Robust Outdoor Connector (ODC) system to reach more sockets
Tyco Electronics has introduced
Outdoor Connector (ODC) fibre-optic
connectors and cable assemblies,
increasing availability in the market of
this de-facto standard connector
interface for outdoor radio equipment
such as cellular base stations and Fibre-to-
the-Antenna infrastructure.
The ODC system withstands severe
environmental conditions and supports highspeed
data transmission with practically zero
losses.
Tyco Electronics has introduced this
product range following its agreement with
the HUBER+SUHNER Group, which developed
ODC technology, and will provide ODC
connectors and cable assemblies to customers
globally. Identical quality standards are
maintained, and the two companies intend to
introduce further ODC products jointly as
well as developing new applications.
The ODC product
range incorporates
precision-machined
rugged brass housings
with two or four optical
terminations in both
single-mode and
multi-mode fibres. The
environmentally-sealed,
fixed and free connectors
are supported by a range
of highly crush-resistant
cables displaying
high tensile strength.
