Popular MCU family solves low-data-rate wireless challenges
The rfPIC™ family from Microchip
combines the established advantages
of the PIC® microcontrollers with an
integrated FSK/ASK transmitter for
embedded short-range wireless
applications in the unlicensed ISM bands.
Three versions of the rfPIC12F675x
controller/transmitter are available for use
in the 260-350MHz, 390-450MHz, or 850-
930MHz frequency bands. The maximum
data rate is 40kbit/s, and the 100nA stand-by
supply current saves overall power consumption.
On-chip resources include 1.8kbytes Flash
programme memory, 64bytes RAM and
128bytes EEPROM, as well as an analogue
comparator and a four-channel 10-bit ADC.
Two compatible receivers, the rfRXD0420
and rfRXD0920, allow designers to quickly set
up a uni-directional wireless link when
building embedded controllers. With low
power consumption and a wide operating
voltage range, these receivers minimise
energy consumption and simplify powersupply
design.
