Three-phase gate driver prioritises immunity and protection features
International Rectifier has introduced the
the IRS2336D and IRS23364D protected
600V three-phase gate-driver ICs, with
extra on-chip features to enhance
performance and reduce footprint.
The new devices provide three output channels
comprising both high-side and low-side circuits
to drive power MOSFETs or IGBTs. Gate-drive
capabilities are 180mA and 330mA through
high-side and low-side outputs respectively at
20V. The inputs are compatible with 3.3V logic.
Unique on-chip circuitry provides immunity to
negative source voltages caused by transients
during high-current switching and short-circuit
conditions. There is also an advanced input filter
to reject noise and reduce distortion, enabling
improved system performance in motor-control
applications.
In addition, the IRS2336D and
IRS23364D feature integrated
bootstrap functionality to
simplify design and reduce
footprint for space-constrained
applications. This allows the
bootstrap power supply to be
reduced from six components to
three, and also provides systemover-
voltage protection by
including additional integrated
intelligent protection circuitry.
Comprehensive protection
features include over-current
and over-temperature detection,
Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO),
integrated dead-time protection, shootthrough
protection, a shutdown input, and
fault-reporting capabilities.
