DC-only relays combine technologies to carry up to 32A



 


Clare, an IXYS company, has introduced four new optically isolated solid-state relays for DC-only applications, which combine Clare’s multi-chip packaging solid-state relay technology with IXYS’ advanced ISOPLUS-264 ceramic substrate package technology to switch high DC-load currents with a small package.

The CPC1718, CPC1727, CPC1779 and CPC1788 are 1-Form-A relays that use patented OptoMOS® technology to achieve low on-resistance as well as fast switching speeds of 20ms turn-on and 5ms turn-off. In addition, all four devices use the company’s ISOPLUS-264 package technology, which features Direct Bonded Copper (DBC) construction to achieve 0.3°C/W thermal resistance and 2500Vrms input-to-output isolation.

These attributes allow safe and efficient operation at load currents up to 17.5A. In addition, all four devices require only 10mA control current, which allows many types of devices to operate the relay directly and thereby reduce size and component count in a variety of applications.
