Integrated synchronous rectifier controllers save space and energy
NXP Semiconductors has introduced two
synchronous rectifier controllers using
GreenChip technology to maximise
efficiency from no load to full load. Highly
integrated features also allow designers to
save space and cost.
The TEA1762 is available in a
14-pin SOIC package and integrates
multiple features including a latch
input, 2.5V reference output, and
separate optocoupler driver outputs
for current protection and voltage
regulation.
The TEA1761, in an 8-pin SOIC
package, targets highly cost-sensitive
applications, combining a single
optocoupler output with advantages
such as easier board layout and
similar dynamic performance to the
TEA1762.
Both devices can be used in discontinuousconduction
mode and quasi-resonant flyback
converters. Besides controlling the synchronous
rectifier MOSFET, the devices also integrate the
voltage reference and amplifiers to regulate
and control the output voltage and output
current of the power supply. Other benefits for
cost-sensitive power supply designs include
10V gate-driver output to drive all MOSFET
brands to the lowest on-resistance, a 1%-accurate internal voltage reference for
regulation, and over-temperature and undervoltage
protection features.
