Controller extends performance of fixed-frequency switched-mode converters
Power supply designers seeking an
uncomplicated PWM solution in
applications requiring high efficiency
can use the Vishay Si9114A switching
controller to achieve switching
frequencies up to 1MHz for size, cost
and reliability improvements.
The Si9114A uses a constant-frequency,
current-mode architecture with less than 50%
duty cycle to enable a straightforward solution
that avoids core-reset issues. The design
minimises shoot-through current to enhance
reliability as well as boosting efficiency by
reducing supply-current requirements.
The integrated, high-voltage DMOS transistor
allows direct interfacing to a 200V bus, to
enable efficient and straightforward designs. In
addition, the oscillator sync output allows
converters to be synchronised in phase as well
as in frequency, in a master/slave configuration.
Integrated protection features include logic-controlled
shutdown circuitry, soft-start
capability and Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO).
