Combined interconnect for lighting-system tap and splice connections

To enable quick termination of power wiring (tap) out to individual light fixtures (splice), Tyco Electronics has developed an interconnect system combining poke-in cavities with an Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC).

The 1811027-1 and 1811027-2 connectors, featuring brown and blue moulding colours respectively, provide an all-in-one solution for cost-effective termination when installing ballasted lighting systems.

The tap termination allows feed-through of 2.05mm solid or stranded wire, or 1.02mm THHN or THWN wire. Dovetail alignment of the two-piece housing ensures robust IDC termination, with wire retention force exceeding 4.5kg. IDC terminations can be made using Flat Rock tooling or field-terminated wire pliers.

The poke-in cavities for splice connections accommodate pre-stripped 1.02mm solid wires.

  • 7A contact current rating
  • 600V operating voltage
  • UL 486C and CSA C22.2 approvals
  • Tool-free installation of poke-in connections
