Solar-optimised connector system boosts electrical and economic performance

The Tyco Electronics SOLARLOK interconnection system helps deliver economical solar energy by enabling configurable, cost-effective and efficient electrical connections between photovoltaic modules and the DC/AC converter. The system meets worldwide standards for photovoltaic interconnections.

System components include a junction box supporting flexible wiring options and an open-system structure enabling serial as well as parallel interconnection via direct wire connect or separable connectors. Up to six termination rails are available for photovoltaic foil connection, and up to four outputs are supported.

The SOLARLOK connectors are optimised for straightforward on-site assembly, and support multiple plugging and unplugging cycles. Solar cables with a variety of insulation diameters are accepted, and the connectors have high current-carrying capacity. The squeeze-to-release mechanism ensures reliable connection even in harsh outdoor environments with extreme temperature variations. In-line connectors including cable couplers and T-branch connectors further enhance flexibility and installation speed.

The system also includes halogen-free solar cables with low toxicity and smoke emissions. High resistance to abrasion, ultra-violet, moisture ingress, salt and general weathering ensure high durability throughout wide-ranging geographical locations. Black, red, and blue jacket colours are available, with wire sizes ranging from 1.5mm2 to 10mm2.
