RJ45 connectors integrate magnetics for next-generation Ethernet applications

The Mag45™ range from Tyco Electronics comprises single and stacked modular RJ45 Ethernet jacks with integrated magnetics, to serve standard Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Power over Ethernet (POE) applications.

The integrated magnetic components provide DC isolation meeting IEEE 802.3 and IEC 60950 specifications, and also provide common-mode EMI suppression, in addition to supporting the delivery of DC power for PoE applications. By integrating these components into the traditional modular jack connector, the new connectors enable designers to achieve PCB space savings, applied-cost savings, and improved electrical performance.

Mag45 modular jacks are available in single and stacked versions. These support a wide variety of physical-layer transceiver chip (PHY) manufacturers as well as various options such as modular plug-latch orientation and optional integrated LEDs. All Mag45 connectors are designed to IEEE 802.3 and ANSI X3.263 specifications and are UL203973 recognised.
