Super heavy-duty interconnects for automotive and harsher environments

For applications requiring extremely rugged interconnects that withstand harsh environments and provide features to ensure error-free mating, the Tyco Electronics AMPSEAL 16 connector system supports multiple contacts rated up to 17A.

Designed for heavy-duty applications, the AMPSEAL 16 connectors withstand automotive under-bonnet temperatures, have passed the ASTM B117 96-hour salt-spray test over 50 durability cycles, and meet SAE J1455 requirements. Superior environmental sealing also allows submersion of AMPSEAL 16 interconnects.

The high-quality terminal system comprises 1.6mm pin-and-socket contacts, which are stamped-and-formed versions of screw-machined MIL-C-39029 contacts. Design features include colour coding and polarised keying to prevent mis-mating, lance-less contacts to save damage or tangling during storage and handling, Connector-Position Assurance (CPA) to protect against accidental unlocking, and a single-latch design with anti-overstress feature for security and longevity.

The 2-, 3-, 4-, 6-, 8-, or 12-position receptacle and associated pin housings are delivered as a one-piece assembly, which reduces handling costs and part number inventory.
