LDO regulators meet automotive power-performance criteria
To help designers meet the many
demands on automotive power-distribution
devices, ON Semiconductor
has a series of fixed-output
linear regulators that meet
the latest automotive
demands including sub-100µA
quiescent current.
Four devices are available,
meeting automotive quality
standards, and providing
designers with a choice of
output-current ratings from
150mA to 350mA and fixed
output voltages such as 3.3V
or 5.0V for direct powering of
MCUs. There are also integrated
control features including reset
and delay-time select for
powering microprocessors.
Further common benefits for
automotive applications include
sub-600mV dropout voltage to maintain
regulation at low input voltages such as during
engine cranking, as well as regulation within
±2.0% throughout load-dump conditions.
For applications requiring low quiescent
current with or without a load, the NCV8660
and NCV8664 provide 150mA output-current
capability, fixed output voltage of 5.0V and
typical quiescent current of 28µA and 22µA
respectively. The NCV8674 is a fixed 5.0V
regulator capable of driving up to 350mA.
The NCV8675 also delivers up to 350mA,
and has a choice of fixed output voltages
from 3.3V to 5.0V. Both devices combine
careful management of light-load current
with low-leakage process technology to
achieve a typical quiescent current of 30µA.
