Standard tachometer-output fans bypass custom lead-times
Providing an alternative to long lead-times
for custom-function fans, Orion
Fans is now offering 12 models of its
popular DC fans with a tachometer-output
feature as standard. Ranging in
size from 25mm to 172mm, the fans ship
directly from stock instead of the typical
16-week lead-time for a custom fan.
More customers are requiring the tachometer-output
option on DC fans because of the need
to monitor fan performance in electronic
enclosures. If the fan speed falls below a
specific RPM, an alarm or indicator is triggered.
The tachometer output of Orion’s standard
fans allows design engineers to monitor and
report the fan’s rotational speed in addition to
triggering an alarm signal to indicate that the
fan has stopped or slowed significantly. Other
valuable features of these fans include an
optional rotation-detection alarm, thermistor-based
speed control, PWM control functions,
and temperature-sensor controls.
