Multi-I/O serial Flash delivers superior performance in industry-standard outlines
The Macronix MX25Lxx family of
high-performance serial Flash
memories are compatible with
industry-standard footprints while also
adding enhancements such as dual- and
quad-I/O read and write, secured 512-bit
OTP memory, and enhanced protection
features.
With multi-I/O capability offering performance
up to 100MHz, the enhanced security features
of Macronix’ serial Flash devices deliver benefits
in high-speed servers, set-top boxes, digital
television, optical disk drives and similar
applications. Flexible sector-grouping of 4kbyte
sectors or 64kbyte blocks ensures easy
compatibility with established serial Flash devices.
Combined with cost-savings through
using smaller packages, the MX25Lxx series
also delivers a competitive alternative to
parallel Flash memories in eXecute In Place
(XIP) applications.
Further benefits include faster download
of code from serial Flash to RAM in non-XIP
applications, as well as short system-powerup
times, leading to higher system
performance. These enhancements also
allow systems to be designed with smaller
RAM to realise cost savings.
The first devices to enter production are
16Mbit and 32Mbit quad-I/O serial Flash,
followed by 64Mbit and 128Mbit dual-I/O
devices. 16Mbit and 64Mbit dual-I/O devices
and 128Mbit single I/O are available now.
