Mobile-optimised SRAMs deliver more battery life, by design
To enable mobile systems that meet
stringent demands for performance on
the move, Cypress Semiconductor has
prioritised More Battery Life (MoBL™)
in its MicroPower SRAMs offering fast
read/write performance and the lowest
possible power dissipation throughout
operational and standby modes.
Cypress’ MoBL SRAMs offer best-in-class
access times of 45ns and are specially
designed to save power throughout all
modes. Patented techniques reduce supply
current to 10mA (typical) for a 2Mbit MoBL
device at 3.6V, which is 70-90% less than a
standard SRAM. Moreover, the standby
current of 10µA at 3.6V and 2µA at 1.8V saves
power when the SRAM is deselected, while
also allowing internal data to be retained.
Another power-saving aspect is the low
data-retention voltage of 1.0V. MoBL devices
are also designed for a wide supply-voltage
range, resulting in only minor degradation in
access time when operating with a lowvoltage
host processor or ASIC.
For maximum ease of use, Cypress’s MoBL
MicroPower SRAMs are available in industrystandard
package styles including FBGA,
VFBGA, SOIC, STSOP, TSOP, TSOP II and PDIP,
and are specified for industrial and
automotive temperature ranges.
