MLCCs withstand 50% more flex in PCBs
The VJ series Multi-Layer Ceramic-Chip
(MLCC) capacitors, from Vishay
Intertechnology employ new
technologies to prevent shorts or low
insulation resistance resulting from
cracks caused by board flexure.
Features include a surface-mount, Open-Mode
Design (OMD) to guarantee safe failure mode,
combined with polymer terminations to
prevent board-flexure cracks. Together, these
allow boards to flex up to an extra 50%
without creating internal short circuits within
the MLCC.
In addition to this enhanced mechanical
robustness, the VJ series also achieves higher
voltage breakdown, with voltage ranges from
50V DC to 3000V DC. The devices have a
capacitance range of 100pF to 1.8µF with X7R
dielectric, and 10pF to 47nF with the C0G
dielectric, and are available in eight case sizes.
