Low-ESR capacitors boost filter efficiency

The Vishay Intertechnology TR8 series of moulded MicroTan™ tantalum chip capacitors are optimised for audio-filtering and signal-processing applications, and engineered to enhance efficiency and reduce footprint.

Vishay’s MicroTan technology delivers low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR), down to 0.8Ω in the 0805 case size and 1.5Ω in the 0603 case size, to boost efficiency by minimising losses outside the stop band. 1.5Ω is the industry’s lowest ESR among comparable devices in the 0603 outline.

Capacitance values for the TR8 series range from 1.0µF to 220µF, with standard capacitance tolerances of ±10% and ±20%. Specified working voltages range from 4WVDC to 16WVDC. The operating temperature range for the devices is -55°C to 85°C, or 125°C with voltage derating.

he TR8 series is halogen-free and features L-shaped facedown terminations for better contact to the solder pad.
