Next-generation SoC design environment unifies system-level and chip-level design

PSoC Designer 5.0, the latest design environment supporting Cypress Semiconductor PSoC system-on-chip technology, transcends traditional design-capture boundaries by supporting system-level visual design all the way through to chip-level code-based design in C or assembly language.

Cypress has achieved this advance by combining the PSoC Express™ visual embedded-system design tool with the full-featured PSoC Designer software. This allows designers to customise designs in C code while also benefiting from the very fast design cycles supported by PSoC Express.

PSoC Designer 5.0 also includes the more powerful version 9.61 of the HI-TECH C® PRO compiler for the PSoC® mixed-signal array. The new compiler includes a new lite mode that designers can use free of charge without any of the time or code-size limits usually associated with free compilers.

There are many other enhancements that boost usability and help designers implement complex systems efficiently in the targeted PSoC device. These include new GUI features such as docking of windows to the development workspace.
