Development kit streamlines flexible MCU-based controls for power LEDs
To help designers quickly access the
advantages of LED control using the
µPD78F8024 lighting controller, such
as colour-management algorithms
and sensor-driven thermal
management, NEC Electronics
has introduced the EV-K0-HCD
evaluation kit.
The evaluation board includes a
µPD78F8024, controlling an on-board
4-channel buck regulator capable of
driving LED strings at 350mA per channel. The
kit also includes a power-supply unit and USB
cable to connect to a host PC, as well as
Applilet GUI-based development software.
Applilet supports automatic code generation to
control the four channels of the µPD78F8024
controller.
Also included on the evaluation board are an
ambient light sensor and a temperature sensor,
which developers can use to exercise the full
range of intelligent functions available with the
µPD78F8024 MCU. Four LUXEON Rebel LEDs are
also integrated on-board, allowing rapid testing
of new lighting designs and control schemes.
The board also supports connection of Future
Lighting Solutions LED boards or a Dialight light
engine, providing additional flexibility to build
and test flexible, low-power lighting solutions.
