Telecom-grade ADC enhances flexibility and control



 


The ADC0808S from NXP Semiconductors is a 250Msample/s, 8-bit ADC that allows clock-frequency and clock-delay adjustments, improving controllability of the data-acquisition front-end in systems such as tape drives and transmission controllers.

The key to this flexibility is NXP’s programmable Complete Conversion Signal (CCS) circuitry, which provides external control inputs for frequency and delay selection. The clock input is also configurable for LVDS or ordinary 1.8V CMOS signalling standards. Further options include binary or two’s-complement CMOS outputs, as well as use of the integrated voltage regulator or external control for full-scale analogue input.

The integrated voltage regulator can be used for input common-mode reference.

The ADC0808S is delivered in a thermally-enhanced 48-pin HTQFP48 plastic package, measuring 7mm x 7mm x 1mm. The package features an exposed die pad to maximise heat dissipation at continuous high sampling rates.
