High-speed logic-gate optocouplers boost noise immunity to 20kV/µs
Three new optical isolators from
Fairchild Semiconductor® utilise
patented OPTOPLANAR® package
technology, which reduces
package capacitance by 30% to
achieve over 20kV/µs Common-Mode
Rejection (CMR) of noise
for enhanced operation in
industrial environments.
The FOD0721, FOD0720 and FOD0710 are
logic-gate optocouplers that isolate the
logic-control circuitry from the transceiver at
the bus-interface level. Achieving double the
rejection of common-mode noise compared
to alternative optocouplers, they deliver a fast
and robust isolation interface to ensure low
transmission error rates and proven reliability
for noisy industrial environments. By
combining a CMOS LED driver, CMOS
detection circuitry and a high-efficiency LED
emitter, the FOD07xx series also achieves low
power consumption.
The high noise immunity of these optocouplers
combines with a fast data speed of 25Mbit/sec to
protect against transmission errors and system
failures. The FOD07xx series meets high-reliability
requirements and devices are qualified according
to the UL1577 safety standard for optical isolators.
All devices are delivered in the 8-pin, small-outline,
surface-mount SOP-8 package.
