Connectors make colour-coding a snap
Tyco Electronics has added coloured
plugs, caps and headers to its Universal
MATE-N-LOK connector family, which
enables colour coding in harnesses and
wiring systems and allows the use of
colour schemes to enhance visibility or
appearance.
The new coloured components are electrically
and mechanically identical to the standard
Universal MATE-N-LOK products. Wire-to-wire,
wire-to-board, single- and double-row
configurations are available, based on the
Universal MATE-N-LOK 6.35mm centre-line.
Right-angle or vertical headers are available for
wire-to-board versions.
Nine colours provide a choice of red,
orange, yellow, brown, green, blue, grey,
black or white. In addition to guiding
assembly or maintenance, colour keying can
also be used to identify different product
releases or model types to assist in field
upgrades. By eliminating discrete colour-keying
components, the coloured Universal
MATE-N-LOK plugs, caps and headers also
simplify purchasing and inventory
management, streamline assembly, and
prevent errors due to missing or badly-placed
keys.
The moulded plastic plugs, caps and
headers can be selected in UL 94V-0 or UL
94V-2 flammability-rated material. The entire
product line carries UL recognition, CSA
certification and VDE approvals.
