Low-cost, general-purpose microcontrollers with built-in capacitive sensing
The Capacitive-Sensing Module (CSM)
present on all PIC16F722/3/4/6/7 MCUs,
simplifies the amount of hardware and
software setup required to implement a
touch-sensing interface.
The CSM integrates analogue MUXs for monitoring
up to 16 capacitive-sensor inputs. An integrated
capacitive-sensing oscillator and multiple timer
resources offer design flexibility, and the CSM can
operate while the device is in sleep mode,
reducing power consumption.
The 28- and 40-pin PIC16F72x MCUs are
capable of operation down to 1.8V and feature a
16MHz internal oscillator; up to 14 ADC channels,
SPI, I2C™ and AUSART communication and two
Capture, Compare and PWM (CCP) modules. The
highly-integrated devices are suitable for a wide
range of general-purpose applications that require
a touch-sensing interface.
