Heat-sinked potentiometer improves power dissipation
The Sfernice PE60 power-panel
potentiometer from Vishay offers
resistances from 1Ω to 1MΩ and a
dielectric strength of 2500VRMS in a
compact, fully-sealed package. The
Sfernice PE60 uses a Cermet element to
offer a power rating of 6W at 50°C.
The Cermet element provides better stability
than standard carbon elements, and the
2500VRMS dielectric and non-inductive
design offer improved robustness. An
operating temperature range of -55°C to
125°C ensures reliability even in extreme
environments, and the device’s electrical
performance meets CECC 41 000.
The potentiometer offers a 3% typical
contact-resistance variation, and 1% typical
end resistance. The device features a
standard ±20% tolerance, with tolerances of
±5% and ±10% available on request.
The PE60 provides a maximum operating
torque of 4.3oz-inch, and an end stop torque
of 6lb-inch.
With a 25mm diameter, the Sfernice PE60
device is smaller than other power-panel
potentiometers. Offering US and EU bushing
threads, the PE60 is intended for industrial and
aeronautic control panel and heavy-duty control
applications. Custom shafts are also available in
accordance to drawings supplied by customers.
