Complete Platform for Integration of Touch-Sensing Interfaces

The PICDEM™ Touch Sense 2 demo board provides a complete platform for implementing capacitive touch-sensing interfaces, without the need for external components.

Microchip’s easy-to-use board includes the royalty-free mTouch ™ sensing software development kit and is populated with a 16-bit PIC24FJ256GB110 MCU, which features an integrated Charge Time Measurement Unit (CTMU) peripheral for fast capacitive touch-sensing, as well as USB On-The-Go (OTG).

The PIC24FJ256GB110 family’s peripheral integration and 256kbytes of Flash memory, combined with Microchip’s portfolio of free and low-cost software libraries, means that designers can implement a variety of additional user-interface functions, including QVGA touch-screen displays, speech-based audio prompts and USB connectivity. Software libraries, source code and other support materials further shorten development time. The Windows-based mTouch diagnostic tool offers an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The DM164128 board allows designers to evaluate capacitive touch-sensing in their application, using Microchip’s mTouch development tools and on-board touch-sensing keys and sliders.
