32-bit Flash-Based MCU Integrates FlexRay Networking
Freescale’s MPC5567 32-bit Flash-based
MCU integrates the FlexRay networking
protocol on a PowerPC® core for
powertrain and chassis applications.
The PowerPC core provides a platform for
system-on-a-chip designs, whilst the FlexRay
networking protocol enables new safety-critical
and performance features, as well as
making on-board networking of existing
electronics systems more robust. This
combination of features on a single chip
supports demand for higher data transmission
rates and fault tolerance in automotive control
systems.
The MPC5567 with FlexRay enables fault-tolerant
communication at bandwidth rates of
10Mbit/sec. The MCU can coordinate and
control communication and activities between
various systems in the vehicle. For example,
the MPC5567’s integrated FlexRay functionality
is designed to enable the integrated chassis
control module to communicate in a quick,
deterministic and dependable manner with
other electronic modules in the car.
The MPC5567 expands on Freescale’s
MPC55XX families of MCUs. Pin-compatibility
throughout the entire Flash-based family gives
