Hi-Speed USB Offered by Low-Cost MCU



 


NXP Semiconductors’ LPC3130 and LPC3131 are low-cost ARM9 MCUs that incorporate 480Mbit/s Hi-speed USB2.0. This provides a cost-effective and power-efficient solution for USB connectivity.

The USB interface contains a UTMI+ compliant transceiver, a dedicated PLL and a dedicated DMA engine to provide high transfer rates. USB device, host and On-The-Go (OTG) operations are all supported by the LPC3130/31 MCUs. To optimise system power consumption, the LPC3130/31 MCUs have multiple power domains and flexible Clock-Generation Units (CGUs) that provide dynamic clock gating and scaling.

Designed using a 90nm process, the LPC3130/31 MCUs feature a 180MHz ARM926EJ core coupled with a 16kB data cache and a 16kB instruction cache. The LPC3130/31 MCUs integrate a flexible external bus interface, a four-channel 10-bit ADC, a range of serial and parallel interfaces, an 8-bit and a 16-bit SRAM and SDRAM interface, and a NANDFlash controller that provides error correction. Integrated serial interfaces include SPI, SSI, I2C, I2S, UART and PWM.

A 4-, 8- and 16-bit 6800/8080 compatible LCD interface supports display applications and an 8- and 16-bit Multi-Port Memory Controller (MPMC) provides access to 64Mbytes of SDRAM and 256kbytes of SRAM and memory-mapped peripherals.

The LPC3130/31 are housed in a 12mm x 12mm x 0.8mm package, which can boot from NAND Flash, SPI Flash, SDHC/MMC cards, UART and USB.
