Rapid Development of Complete Motion-Detection Systems



 


Zilog’s enhanced PIR (ePIR™) module is a compact Single-Board Computer (SBC) specifically designed for the rapid development and deployment of products requiring motion detection.

These SBCs offer a complete, compact, and high-performance motion-detection solution, including an MCU, a Passive InfraRed (PIR) sensor and a Fresnel lens. To enable customisedmotion detection, Zilog’s ePIR™ module also features adjustable sensitivity, delay and ambient-light thresholds. Additionally, a SLEEP mode enables low-power operation, a photocell input can be used for ambient-light detection and dynamic PIR-sensor stabilisation minimises power-on time.

Advanced software-basedmotion-detection algorithms increase both sensitivity and stability. The SBC is built around the Z8 Encore! XP® MCU. This incorporates Zilog’s unique sigma-delta technology, and advanced motion-detection algorithms that boost sensitivity, stability and reliability.

Zilog’s ePIR modules are capable of left and right motion-direction detection, extending the capabilities of this type of technology. Furthermore, the technology used in these SBCs exceeds the current worldwide regulatory 2GHz radiated immunity EMC standards. Zilog’s enhanced ePIR motion-detection SBC delivers a reliable, high-performance digital solution at an analogue price point.
