NXP Semiconductors’ LPC17xx MCUs, featuring the ARM Cortex-M3™ CPU, enhance efficiency and flexibility for connected applications by integrating a combination of Ethernet, CAN2.0B, and USB2.0 interfaces including USB Host/OTG/Device capability. The product range spans Flash densities from 32kbyte to 256kbyte and operates up to 100MHz, with optional configurations supporting USB On-The-Go (OTG), an I2S digital interface, a 10-bit DAC and 12-bit ADC for mobile, independent applications supporting audio-enabled applications. By using the 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 CPU, the LPC17xx series combines high processing power, low cost, and power-saving features such as a sophisticated wake-up interrupt controller and a sub-1µA Real-Time Clock (RTC). The wake-up interrupt controller maximises the benefits of the CPU’s four reduced-power modes, including Sleep, Deep-sleep, Power-down and Deep-power-down states. In addition, LPC17xx MCUs feature a multi-layer AHB architecture that allows high-bandwidth functions such as USB and Ethernet to run simultaneously. By also integrating a 4MHz RC oscillator, accurate to 1% over the entire voltage and temperature range, the LPC17xx series saves external components and accelerates design by eliminating the need for an external clock source. Further peripherals available include motor-control PWM with a quadrature-encoder interface to support three-phase motors, an eight-channel general-purpose DMA controller, and four 32-bit timer/counters. Designers can take full advantage of the flexibility offered by the LPC17xx by choosing from package options offering up to 70 GPIOs.
